There’s equipment, there’s professional equipment and then there’s seriously professional equipment.
To create something, anything, you need equipment. To create something professional grade, you need professional equipment. But, to create something out of the ordinary, you need extraordinary equipment.
Do you wanna create something extraordinary? Something that just takes the breath away? Devin Graham does that. He does that very well. He creates videos and he has a youtube channel named Devin Super Tramp.
If you’re not already familiar with this channel (how can you not?) then here’s a brief introduction. His videos are made of absolute awesomeness. With only 200 videos, he has acquired 4.1 million dedicated subscribers and over 765 million views on his videos.
Recently, LG collaborated with Super Tramp.
Seriously Professional with Devin Super Tramp
So what do Devin and his team do? They usually shoot adventurous videos. They shoot and process them so brilliantly that the viewers realize they have never seen anything like that.
Devin makes use of all kind of high-end equipment such as stabilized jibs, glide cams, drone cams and truly high-end video cameras. Naturally, their post production is equally impressive, but more on that in just a bit.
First, please check out this video they made just a couple of weeks ago in collaboration with LG.
Whoa! How Did They Make This Video?
As you’d know, there are three parts of video production. First is pre-production, which includes all of the homework. The second part is shoot, which is commonly called ‘production’. Third part is post-processing which includes editing. Today’s post is about that last part because we designers are most closely related to this part.
There are many aspects of post-processing i.e. editing but the vital center of everything is their display device. This is something that absolutely cannot be compromised on.
Because everything image is all about light and color. And if their display device under-performs even a little bit, they are surely doomed.
And this is an aspect of their work which is greatly common with our line of work. Our 3D models, our designs and our animations also deserve and need to be displayed at the absolute best.
So, you must be wondering what monitor screens Devin and his gang uses. They use LG UltraWide monitors that display at 21:9 resolution.

These monitors do make designers and video editors drool with their pioneering perfect black technology, curved designs and their amazing cinema-scope resolution.
“For years, we’ve filmed everything at 16:9. Now, the camera technology is there, so we can shoot at 21:9. That’s huge for us; now we can make it look like it was an actual movie.” – Devin Graham
These days, each of Devin Super Tramp’s video gets viewed by at least 5-7 million people. Many cross 10 million mark. This puts a huge responsibility on Graham’s shoulders and he realizes that. He says that this huge viewership is the reason they put so much effort into the editing of the video.
“We’re editing on those monitors. We’re doing sound design on those monitors. We’re color correcting on those monitors. Everything we’re doing within the post-production, it all happens in the exact same place because we have to work so efficiently.” – Devin Graham
These monitors provide a one-stop-solution for designers, animators and video editors. These are the monitors that enable Devin to create those masterpieces of videos. These monitors can show the ideas into a real form.
Wanna hear Devin talk about these monitors? Here’s the behind-the-scenes of the Pogo stick video we checked above. You can see Devin talk about these monitors and how they have helped him make those amazing videos.
One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is that these monitors are not just great for professional needs, they’re great entertainment as well. Playing Mirror’s Edge (one of my favorite video games) is just a bliss.
And, you can watch movies in true cinema scope resolution.
In fact, I personally feel that even though you’re likely to buy these monitors for business purposes, it’s the entertainment factor that will make you an addict of these.
So, all in all, these monitors do make our lives better. They are expensive of course, they’re the best in the market, they’re suppose to be expensive… but they’re worth it. They can help you create better graphics and give you better entertainment.
