When I started out with a blog, I thought it was cool filling all the side bars with widgets and blinkies showing my support to my online friends’ shops and blogs. I even had a neato font. I would change my header and sometimes the background, but, I had a ‘style’ and I stuck with it.
Then, I had my blog evaluated by Tom at FanExtra. The advice I was given was pretty much what you have written here! I took the advice. The key point to a blog should be the content of one’s writing, not how wonderful your online friends are. I’m just saying! LOL Content should stand out, not a gazillion flashy widgets and images. All the glitz distracts from one’s content. I had never thought about it that way before.
I don’t know how much a difference it has made, cleaning up my blog. But, if I read some of the stats right, readership is rising, much quicker than ever.
Thanks for a good read! And, thanks for letting me share! LOL I got kind of into it!
My blog is Suruha.com if you are interested. Thank you,

Designers must also decide the color scheme for website wisely as the color scheme of the website plays a major part in success or failure of website. You may have the best content possible on your website, may provide the most lucrative product deals and etc, but if the color scheme is not inviting and engrossing enough, you may better bid adieus to your aspirations for online business success.
