There can be two types of logo maker tools available; first one would be the download-and-install software, and the second type is the online tools. We are featuring both types of logo makers in today’s post.
A logo is the identity of the company. A logo is the artistic representation in of the ideology of the mother firm. A logo’s shape, color and font reveal the psyche of the business. No wonder logo design costs a lot. If you submit your project to logo design contest websites, they start from around $50 and go up to $200. On the other hand, specialist logo designers can cost anywhere from $200 to thousands of dollars.
This list of logo maker tools contains online and installer tools. The installer type software helps to create professional grade logos but they are also a little difficult to use. If you don’t have any experience of working with vector design software, they might seem a little confusing in the beginning.
However, online logo makers are absolutely beginner friendly, but they do have some limitations.
If you have a particular logo design in mind, than you should choose from installer type tools, but if you just wanna create a logo or identity/signature design, online tools will also be fine.
If you do choose to install a software, make sure you also install some special logo design fonts as well.
Free Logo Maker Installers
This is undoubtedly the market leader in freeware vector design software. This tool helps you to create professional level designs without spending a dime.
Inkscape is so powerful that it can also create and edit SVGs.
Here is an Open Source program, brings professional page layout. Basically, this is an Adobe InDesign alternative but it can be used for creating logos. It does contain powerful vector design tools.
If there’s anything that can challenge Adobe Photoshop from the freeware category, it is GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). This is a powered up program which can work as a full-featured image editor and processor, and you can also work with vector graphics as you do in Adobe Photoshop.
So if you need a logo maker similar to Photoshop, GIMP is your answer.
Since GIMP has a different interface compared to Adobe Photoshop the creators of GIMP have now launched GIMPshop. This is still the same free GIMP, but its interface is as much close to Adobe Photoshop as it could be. You can compare both the screenshots.
Free Online Logo Makers
Probably the best logo design tool out there, and it is totally free but you do have to sign up to create your logo.
Basically this is an electronic signature builder. Of course you can create logos with it. It contains many effects, such as web 2.0 gloss, fire flames, metal etc. etc. etc.
This is not one of the usual logo creators. Whereas others try to deliver class and professionalism, this one delivers the exact opposite! But you know, sometimes funk and groove is required more than simplicity and class.
Pretty much like Flaming Text (third in this list). This logo generator is basically a signature maker hence it can be used as a logo generator.
This one also contains many effects.
This logo generator is still in beta but it works fine. Contains multiple effects.
Logo factory is arguably the best of lot. That is because it is fully custom logo editor. You have a video tutorial for guidance and you can also refer to the animated tutorial for better understanding.
We would have made the list longer but the problem is that there are very few tools that provide high quality solutions for free. Everything is paid these days.
Still, these tools are enough to cater any kind of need you may have related to your logo design.
And while you’re designing your logo yourself, you should also avoid common mistakes people make while designing logos. You can also take a look at our showcase for some inspiration. All the best and happy logo making.
