User Experience New Features of WordPress 3.3 “Sonny”

User Experience New Features of WordPress 3.3 “Sonny”

A couple of days ago WordPress launched its final update of WordPress 3.3. Right now, all the WordPress blogs around the world (including Designzzz) are being notified that they should upgrade. Most of the webmasters haven’t updated yet (again, includings Designzzz) because they have a fear that their theme might not work properly with this new version.
Your web design tutorial writer Jawad has a blog about cars and automobile, Carunch.com, last night he has upgraded it! Now I’m in a position to give you a personal user experience of the latest WP.

The new version is named “Sonny” in the honor of famous Jazz musician Sonny Stitt. Almost all of the WordPress 3.x compatible themes are working fine with Sonny, even the customarily programmed ones.

How to Convert Your WordPress Theme to HTML5

How to Convert Your WordPress Theme to HTML5

HTML5 ushers in a new set of features and options for how we build websites and sooner than later it will have the full support of most browsers in use today. While XHTML will stick around for a long time, there is no avoiding the fact that you will have to update your WordPress theme eventually. With the help of JavaScript, HTML5 is safe to use for all modern browsers down to IE6. I should mention that if it is important to you to support users who may have JavaScript disabled (1.5% of total internet users), you may want to wait a while before making this change. However, there are a few tricks you can use to satisfy that 1.5% that I will cover at the end of this article.

Handy WordPress Plugins and Tutorials for Displaying Related Posts

Handy WordPress Plugins and Tutorials for Displaying Related Posts

I promised this post a few days ago so here it is. This is a collection of the best and free WordPress plugins and tutorials for displaying related posts. Related post is a wonderful feature to decrease your bounce rate and keep your visitor on your site for longer than usual. As you can see that we are also using this feature, in the end of all of our posts you can see a section of “Related Stuff You Will Love!”. This is related posts. If you have a blog or website, you MUST add this element to it.

You would also know that my criteria for selection of plugins is very strict; I only add plugins which are rated over four stars (that’s a seriously high rating) and they also have to be compatible with WordPress 3 (latest).  The tutorials will tell you how you can add this feature in the professional way.

Display Greeting Message Depending on Social Media Referer – PHP

By learning this tutorial you can display a greeting message to your visitor depending on the social media site (such as twitter, facebook etc.) they came from.

For instance if your visitor came to your site via Twitter, this piece of code will show them a customized greeting message with anything, and if you want; you want to add “follow us on Twitter” etc. kind of links as well. Same can be done for any social media site like Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit and so on.

This code can be used in WordPress or any type of website developed in php.

This is not a big collection because I only wanted WordPress 3.0 compatible highly rated plugins. Believe me when I say it, I searched a lot and there aren’t many tools which fit on this strict criteria. But I did find a few gems and here they are.

What, Why and How of WordPress Spam

What, Why and How of WordPress Spam

If there’s something you don’t want on your WordPress site, chances are that either you put it there while heavily medicated or someone else did.  When developing a blog, the most basic steps are:

1)  Launch a Blog
2) Write Content

At either one of these steps, it seems fairly unlikely that someone else could wheedle their way in and ruin your content.  Oh but how you’re mistaken…
