website redesign tips5 Tips to Consider for Redesigning a Website

People usually redesign their website with specific goals such as increasing visitors and leads. Redesigning affects web traffic and hence advertising revenue. So when you go for redesigning your website, it is important to have a clear goal in your mind. Make sure you have done an in-depth internet marketing research before changing your website design. Only focusing on the aesthetic aspects of redesigning will not help you to increase traffic to your website and address customer needs.

Here are 5 important tips to keep in mind while you work on redesigning your website.

Go Slow

GO SLow in design process

When you begin redesigning you might want to make a complete large scale change in your website, however it is a better idea to make small step by step changes. Usual visitors may be put off by abrupt and dramatic changes as they are used to navigating your website in a particular way. Slow changes will give them more time to adjust.

Keep the Loading speed constant

keep the loading speed constant

The changes you make should not increase the loading speed of your website. No one likes to wait very long for a website to load, and changes that increase the loading speed will put off visitors. Your web hosting plays the major role here, go for the best web hosting always too keep the things under control.

Keep the website user friendly

One way to Do this is by making sure navigation Tools and links are easy to locate and click. You should avoid scattering navigational tools all over the website as this will make it difficult for visitors to find them.

Always Have a backup

You should also keep a backup of the old website, in case the new website fails to meet the goals and you want to revert back to the old design. You need to identify aspects of your website like keywords; links to individual pages, back links, and navigational tools that increased the prospects of your website and make sure the redesign incorporates them.

Add features to increase traffic

traffic

The website should be redesigned with strategic placement of keywords so that search engines can locate and run through the contents of your website easily. Along with this, you need to ensure that your website redesign increases your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  Include RSS feeds, links in Directories and social networking sites and landing pages to make your website more dynamic. You could also add innovative features to your website such as drop down translation tool, a separate print style sheet and blog rolls.

Finally, after the redesigning your website, you should test it’s affect on target audiences. One way to do this is by examining the traffic flow and other statistics of your website.

Great pointing out that you always need a backup. Many clients do not think about asking for a backup of their website. It is though super important in case anything ever happens.

I like to add to reconsider the target market. That should be a part of the “plan”. The first website is normally about testing the market and audience. Redesigning a website is really building on the first knowledge and re-adjusting to the market. Hopefully, an analytics program was installed and you have a clear about who is really visiting your website. We wrote about it on out blog at http://www.bizwallblog.net.
