This is one of the coolest effects we can make in Photoshop. Electric text in Photoshop. I have seen many tutorials for this but I thought there was scope for creating an easy, simple yet impressive tutorial, and so I made one.
As ever, I created this tutorial keeping the newcomers in mind so if you don’t have much experience, still you should be able to follow it properly. But, again as ever, we have not compromised on the quality of the result.

Setting the Background
First of all, I opened the brick-wall image. Now I’m adjusting its tones. Adjust it from Image>Adjustment>Hue/Saturation and then, also adjust the levels from Image>Adjustment>Levels.
Text
Type your favorite word using Type Tool. I used Blue color but you can try with different colors.
Now I duplicated the text layer and blurred it. Goto Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and adjust values, then place this layer behind the original text layer.
Duplicate the blurred text layer and set layer style to Color Dodge. Place this layer in front of the original text layer.
Now apply all the following layer styles to the original text layer.
Cool, Huh!
The Edgy Look
Make a new blank layer and place it under text layer. Select Brush Tool and make the small strokes under the corner edges of the text. Use solid black color.
Now add the following layer style to our edgy strokes.
Result After Layer Styling
Duplicate edgy strokes layer and place it on top of text layers, then the layer style to Darker Color. This is a minor effect which is sometimes unnoticeable but it gives the design a professional touch.
Addon Spices
Here I’m adding a stock image of Caution Board. I just transformed it by striking CTRL+T. Then I adjusted its layer style to Overlay. I’m only using this one image, you do add as many things you like, things such as a “Stop” sign. I kept the design clean but you should try with variations.
An electricity board is necessary to light up our typography.
Apply these layer styles to the electric board.
I added a simple wire and transformed it according the height we require.
Then I duplicated the wire. We need two wires obviously.
Now I needed something that looks like holding our wires. I didn’t what to do so I put a first aid bandage here. Whatever works! 🙂
Apply these layer style to the bandage.
And also duplicated bandages for fun.
Now draw a line with Brush Tool. This line give the effect of an electric charge.
Drawing Done.
Take another layer, fill it with solid Black and then use Eraser Tool to make a hole in the center. Then apply layer style of Overlay.
