Having a job in the online industry is challenging, staying up-to-date is a constant condition, or else the risk of being fired has a great probability to happen. In spite of these, the good remuneration and the harsh competition make many people to wish they were working in this field. If working in the online world is stressful, then the job of a logo designer is one where the pressure of the client is enormous, hence you should think twice before joining the field of logo design.
The pressure comes from the fact that a small element as a logo has a bigger importance than people usually believe. Being a logo designer is awesome; it’s fabulous to know that your (apparently) ignorable work may influence the business of your client in a tremendous manner. In order to survive, a logo designer should stay up-to-date and also must refine his skills.
No one has a clear list on how to become a better logo designer but there are few tips that across the time seem to be efficient for almost everyone. I presented these here, added up with my personal thoughts but I am really waiting for your thoughts.
Begin with Your Mental…
For a long time I have considered that working all day long will ensure me a place among the best logo designers in my town and with another few years of endeavor maybe I will turn into a national star (it costs nothing to dream). In my own competition, I worked almost blindly for an entire year, with no hope and without any faith. Now I realize that this period wasn’t lost, but clearly, I have wasted some precious time and resources. The first move, when you really want to become a specialist or an influential entity in your field, is to prepare your psychic to be number one. Once you trust yourself and are aware that your potential is ready to explode, thenyou should start working. Yes, unfortunately,it is impossible to evolve without work!
Double or Triple Your Volume of Work

The best logo designers work for many hours in a day, therefore if you are one of them, it is mandatory to respect this schedule. The conclusion is simple: work, work, work but it isn’t enough;you should work better and faster.I know that in the beginning of the intense therapy of improving your skills everything is amazingly difficult and all your life is hell, but just few months later you will accommodate with this rhythm. I don’t know if the specialists agree with me, but human beings have inexhaustible and unexpected reserves of energy.
Learn and be Proficient in Other Adjacent Fields
Working constantly has become a boring activity which is a real plague for everyone. A wise logo designer knows how to combat such undesirable situations and will diversify his works. Learning web design, usability principles, the color theory, are much recommended; in this way it is simpler to understand the role of logo in the big picture. Briefly, you are expert (or on the way to) in many fields and boredom is avoided.
Search & Find Inspiration from Everywhere
“What do I see Over there?”
The majority of logo designers lack inspiration and, to overcome this trap, it is better to search for different sources of inspiration. You andother expert logo designers don’t have big issues with inspiration because youare smart and find it easily…wow, is it possible?
Yes, but once again, another endeavor is required from you. Inspiration is everywhere, from the neutrinos of an atom to the Jupiter and Sun, so logo designers must be able to find it. In my moments of lacking any inspiration, I first try to search for it in collections of logos which of course are many and there are some awesome concepts.
Another constant source of inspiration is constituted by simple things that in the most cases are banal and ignored. A simple chair, your keyboard, the impressive design of the iPad – are only few things that have made me find some cool solutions.
The last source, in my opinion the best, is nature itself. Nature comes with simple ideas but the composition is perfect; not even the best designer is capable of making the most decent realization of the Mother Nature.
Try Many Variants of the Same Logo

I didn’t find this trick in the posts of other logo designers but I really believe it works for everyone. A satisfied client is usually the end of the project, the bigger is his satisfaction, the greater is the realization of the logo. I totally agree with this but I have a small correction, the project isn’t finished. Even if the logo created is stunning, when I have time, I try to build others for the same project. Using this method, purely your brain and imagination is totally dried up.
Get in Touch with Other Logo Designers
Through mail or email
Staying in touch with other logo designers is another opportunity to become better at what you do. Each one has barely a good idea so you should take what is positive from all of them. Reading the blogs of the best logo designers is another good source of information, they are sharing precious advice and tips. Many of them are kind and asking for their opinion about some of your logos will be very important for you, definitely they are the best qualified to judge the value of your work.
Ask for Feedback
It’s difficult or impossible to quantify the progress of a logo designer, but there could be some little tricks to help anyone form a correct idea. The feedback of other designers is a real help in seeing the progress, if you want to be better, then the feedback is vital. Don’t worry, you shouldn’t hire specialists, it’s enough to upload some logos on the best galleries and instantly someone will guide you and why not, congratulate you.
